Grafting k1p1 ribbing aka kitchener k1p1 ribbing worked flat
This is a demonstration of grafting (kitchener) k1p1 ribbing when worked flat. This is useful for grafting a fabric in a continuous direction, such as both ends of a cowl that was worked flat.
The drawings are by Françoise and André Monerau and I am thankful to them.

This video is a demonstration of grafting Stockinette stitch fabric when working from the bottom up in a unidirectional fabric, worked flat. Also known as kitchener stitch. This is useful to use when you want to lengthen a fabric from a point within the fabric rather than at one end or the other. It is also useful for connecting a cast on to a bind off edge when using live stitches. It is also ...

How to Make Knitter's Graph Paper with a Spreadsheet
I love the way Suzanne Bryan does this demo. How she explains all she is doing and makes it so simple to follow. Her demo never goes off camera.
Such a brilliant yet simple approach. Thank you soooo much!!!
Thank you Suzanne! 🙏
Great tutorial, so very clear and to the point. I'm about to bind off a sweater in the round, using tubular bind off. I noticed you are working 4 setup rounds, then do the bind off. I've seen tutorials that go straight to the bind off. What is the difference to your method (sorry if that question has already been asked)? On the cuffs I used the straight tubular bind off and it seems to flare out a bit. I wouldn't want this on the hem. Will your method prevent the flare?
Great tutorial. Thank you! I just can't get the continental method. I know it takes practice, but my fingers just won't cooperate. I'll stick to English.
Muito lindo amei Parabéns pelo seu trabalho ❤❤❤❤❤
Achei muito lindo esse ponto obrigada por compartilhar seu trabalho gratidão ❤❤
Very excited to go forth and not fear steeking! Thank you very much for this wonderfully clear tutorial.
Thank you, you made it less scary. I might try them now ❤
I'm so happy to have come across your video. I was very frustrated with the raglan sleeve pattern I'm following as I could not figure out how to not have holes. Suzanne, this video saved me. Thank you so much❤
Fun
Such a clear video! Thank you!
This video is great. Suzanne certainly has the ability to explain logically to help knitters of all abilities.
Suzanne, you save me time and again. I am at the level of knitting I've achieved all because of you. In so very grateful to you🙏❤️
Thanks
Best tutorial for the crescent shawl ever!! I think I can do this now! Thank you ❤
Thank you for sharing how you do these stitches I am very grateful 😊
Susanne this is such a great on point tutorial. I love it immensely. Are you still active on the Internet? because I do have a question about something related to lace knitting that you could probably answer ❤
Thank you. This was really helpful.😊
Excellent tutorial and explanation!
I have heard that splicing and fusing doesn’t work on non-wool yarn. Is this true?
Just wondering if the distance between my left finger and right finger holding the yarn and the needles it matters or not when you catch the floats and stranded knitting?
this is the most convoluted explanation I have ever seen of colorwork and float trapping. Went over to Very Pink and got much clearer instructions.
Thank you : )
Holy cow! You are a wizzardess! Your method of weaving in the very short cut tails is brilliant- and obvious - once I see it done! Thank you for your wonderful work in sharing your knowledge!
So so helpful! Thank you so much!
This is a brilliant demonstration ! It is the only time I ‘ve ever seen two colors tied together to illustrate the actions of the tail and ball ends of the yarn. Great visual.
Excellent video as usual Suzanne! Thank you! Helped me 100% today with the next stage of my Halibut (Caitlin Hunter) xxx
Thank you so much. Love from Lisbon! ❤you are amazingly kind❤
LOVE your videos! Thank you so much.
Here is the question. What am I missing? So, the pattern I started shows Row 1(rs) - k4 M1L knit to last 4 sts, M1R, k4 Row 2(ws)- k4, M1R knit to last 4, M1L, p4 On Row2, after knitting 4sts, where I have to do M1R, the strand is doubled because what I did on the first row. It makes a little hole. Is this right to you? I am confused... The pattern does not mention anything about the double strands. Please help!
Thanks for the tips, Suzanne. Q: The 1x1 ribbed brim of my hats are stretching out after one wear. I’m not a loose knitter. Apart from looking very nice, will these techniques ensure the rib will bounch back? I use the pattern’s recommended 3.25mm needle, either longtail CO or alt. cable CO, with 4ply (sportweight) non superwashed yarn. I can’t seem to find vids on how to best prevent stretching out on hat brims. Aside from trying your technique, would going down to say a 3mm be a good idea?
This technique will help. Going down a needle size and this technique together would be good. But may make the ribbing too tight
@@SuzanneBryan thanks very much. Tried the combo and voila! It has solved my issue🎓
Thank you for this! This is extremely helpful for adjusting drop shoulder patterns to my frame.
Lovely!! Thank you so much!
As I was watching this video I noticed that your needle tips are long and pointy and wondered what they were and was about to ask, but you told us at the end! It pays to watch the whole video to get all of your excellent tips. Thank you for your excellent videos!
Thank you. I learnt something today. Never too old 😊
You're incredible. Thanks a ton foe this valuable video ❤
I like the look of this heel. I tried it once and I need practice. You knit continental style and it's difficult for me to follow. I can knit both ways but when I have to yarn over to make double stitches my fingers get confused. I will keep trying. I was using dpns I think I should use circular needles instead. Are you using two circular needles?
Thank you Suzanne! I appreciate the time you take to explain what you are doing! I’ve been blocking wrong all this time! 🙏
this clip was a godsend thankyou - even after 61 pairs of socks I still refresh my memory with it !
Question: I would like to do grafting on a Christmas stocking, and I have two sets of live knitting that I wish to connect. The top portion with the child's name is ready to be grafted into the completed body of the stocking, the bottom portion. Each section has 66 stitches. For the grafting/kitchener stitch, the top = back and the bottom = front, correct? I'm concerned that because both sections are live, the loops coming from within each other (not off to the side as in the back portion of your tutorial) that it will not mesh nicely. What are your thoughts?
This was hard to find and so incredibly helpful. Thanks Suzanne. Just subscribed

Thank you for your tutorial, it is very clear and useful. I have one question though. You say it is necessary to use smaller needles for the tubular preparation rows. If the main stockinette body of my garment is for example on 4mm needles and then I switch to 3mm for 1x1 ribbing, does that mean I should go further down and knit the double knitting rows with 2mm needles?
What do you do with those little tails though. They keep popping through my fabric. Thanks
Hi Suzanne, I just found your video and I think it is very helpful. I just started another sweater and will try your method directly. It looks fantastic! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
This is the most amazing tutorial with such an easy technique for gorgeous double knitting edges. You’ve saved so many of my projects now!
Thank you.
I had been creating that “gigantic hole” and have been searching for the solution- thank you!!
It is so difficult to try and figure out what you are doing in continental knitting. 😢 I watched it over and over but gave up. I hope I can find an English style explanation.
